Season 1 Episode 11 // Being Formed through Solitude
Welcome back to An Abiding Life Podcast with your hosts, Hunter + Kait Poppa! In this episode, we visit some insightful Scripture passages on the art of intentional solitude—what did it look like for Jesus, His disciples, and even Moses to practice this discipline? How can we take these examples and practically incorporate them into our lives in a modern context? And what is the importance of tying together silence with another spiritual discipline like prayer or Scripture?
Here are a few reflection questions to keep in mind as you listen through this episode:
1. What is one simple step you can take to add moments of silence and solitude into your daily life?
2. What value does practicing silence add to the life of someone who follows Jesus? How can it impact those around that person?
3. When Mother Teresa spoke of prayer, the first thing she mentioned was silence. “The fruit of silence is prayer; the fruit of prayer is faith; the fruit of faith is love; the fruit of love is service; the fruit of service is peace.” Take a moment to reflect on this and examine how a weak link at any point in this chain can impact our lives and ministry.
